ABOUT US

Project LEAP was started by Rhea Bijoor in May 2021 as a volunteer service organization with the mission to serve the community locally and globally. After serving as a student volunteer on an international medical trip to perform health screenings in schools in rural South India just before the Covid-19 pandemic, she could not forget a conversation she had with a girl student around the same age as her. Observing the educational, health and economic disparities remained etched in her mind and she knew she had to do something to give back! So, she reached out to the schools during the lockdown and advocated for them. She researched their needs and connected community members from USA, Canada, UK and Australia to sponsor a student or two! Through generous donations and the power of human connection, Rhea was able to raise more than enough funds to sponsor the 560 students that needed tablets and data packs in order to get back to school, albeit virtually during the pandemic! Project LEAP was born out of a need to support education continuity but the smiles on the student and parent faces says it all! It is in giving that we receive and Project LEAP continues to support the educational needs and raise local and global awareness on important public health matters. We look forward to working with everyone in 2022 and beyond!
